Budgets slashed?
Business down?
Make investments in human capital pay off!
When business is squeezed, the first inclination may be to slash training budgets, for instance by shortening the length of training sessions and seeking learning methods that allow for self-study or online delivery. But enlightened organizations recognize that such methods can compromise individual learning objectives as well as organizational goals.
Thus, many progressive companies invest in their talent so that management is aligned around key objectives and goals, and everyone can work smarter, faster and better - and have a positive impact on the bottom line.
As the global economic downturn takes a hold, take note - and take heart - that there are several cost savings techniques that can help you leverage your organizational development dollars.

Skanska prepares roll-out in US
For many years, the Sweden-based global construction company Skanska has been running a range of different Celemi programs. One especially successful undertaking is a tailor made simulation on effective project management, based on the Celemi CayenneTM simulation. Since the launch of the Skanska project management simulation in 2005, sessions have taken place in Denmark, Norway and Poland. In 2008, USA and Latin America set up the roll out schedule for project workers. Skanska has also used the simulation for students at the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology, KTH in Stockholm, to demonstrate a Skanska construction project. For the second year in a row, the simulation has been mentioned in Skanska’s annual report.
"Learning-oriented games
A project simulation game to increase awareness of the complex interrelationships in projects is one example of advanced employee training. This game was developed in Sweden but is now being used in a number of markets."
